Centering Life on Jesus: The Key to Nurturing Relationships

In this journey of life, we’re all connected in a beautiful tapestry of relationships. From the moment we’re born, the bond between parents and children stands out as one of the deepest, tied by direct bloodline. But every relationship, whether it’s with our spouse, siblings, friends, or coworkers, carries its unique significance and purpose. Psalm 139:16 reminds us, “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Every person we meet is placed in our path by God for a reason.

Jesus teaches us a crucial lesson about relationships: put Him at the center. When Jesus takes the lead in our lives, He guides us to love others in the right way, at the right time. It’s about being Jesus-centered. This means showing love and kindness, helping our families, and the larger family of believers to thrive.

Now, embracing Jesus’ teachings isn’t always easy. It requires something from us—repentance. Repentance means turning away from our old selves and embracing a new life in Christ. It’s about letting go of those tangled, chaotic relationships and turning our hearts back to God. James 1:22-25 talks about looking into God’s word like a mirror, reflecting on our actions and thoughts, and making a change.

Jesus called us to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matthew 5:14-16). We’re here to bring flavor, preservation, and light into this world, illuminating the path back to God. By living out the Beatitudes—being poor in spirit, mournful, meek, hungry for righteousness, merciful, pure in heart, peacemakers, and even persecuted for righteousness—we’re showing the world what it means to live a life that glorifies our Father in heaven.

So, let’s not hide our light. Even during dark and twisted relationships, let’s shine bright, guiding others with our actions and lives back to God. As we turn our hearts towards Him, we help the body of Christ grow, each of us supporting one another in love (Ephesians 4:15-16).

Remember, every relationship is an opportunity to show God’s love. Let’s embrace each day as a chance to be a beacon of hope and light, leading by example and walking in love. That’s how we balance life, by keeping Jesus at the center and shining His light in every interaction.
